Música del Sol, Inc., provides an open, supportive environment for Albuquerque area elementary school students to learn and perform string instrument music in an extracurricular school setting. Toward this end, it will undertake the following activities:
Initiate and administer programs in string instrument music education to benefit the students, families, schools, and individuals in the Albuquerque area community.
Provide preliminary musical training for students wishing to enter programs such as the Albuquerque Youth Symphony program elementary grade orchestra, or attend the Public Academy for the Performing Arts (an Albuquerque Public Schools Charter School).
Continue to work with Albuquerque Public Schools, Albuquerque Academy, and any other educational institutions in the city, to develop and support appropriate string music education programs.
Continue to work with the Albuquerque Mayor's Office to secure funds or other endorsements in support of the existing programs, and to allow for future expansion to other elementary schools throughout the Albuquerque area.
Seek and apply for federal, state, and private funds, equipment, and in-kind donations available in support of fine arts education and performances.
Allocate public and/or private funds as appropriate to organizations, agencies, or individuals who can assist in providing arts programs or related products of high quality.
Provide information and encouragement to the students to allow them to experience performing arts events, such as attendance at open rehearsals or performances of various music groups in the Albuquerque area, or hearing and interacting with artists who bring presentations to the schools.
Provide employment and internship opportunities to musicians and string music teachers.
Develop an awareness in the business community, in local government, and in the general public of the value of elementary music education in the Albuquerque area.
Engage in any other related activities that will enhance the arts and cultural life in the community.
